Do you know how to embed a Google Plus profile? Recently, I wrote a post called The Men To Follow On G+ that seemed to baffle a lot of people. The reason for the questions that they had was that I used a cool form of embed code to display other people’s G+ profile cards in my post for the simple reason of allowing my readers to click on these people’s name and add them to their circle’s without having to do any extra steps like search for them on G+. It looks like this:
So as you can see, this makes it very easy for the reader to follow you or any other person you are promoting at the time. And, as you already know, the easier you can make it for someone to do something online, then they will choose to do it because you have made it quick and easy for them to do. Most social media platforms have forms of embeds like this that you can use that only takes one click from the reader to follow instead of following the link you give them. It takes away the extra step, therefore making it simpler for them. For now, though, I want to concentrate on showing you how to do this using the Google Plus embed codes for your hovercard, or profile photo.
How To Embed a Google Plus Profile
Since I got so many questions on how I did this last week, I thought I would just create a small tutorial that showed you the simple steps. The first thing you need to do is head over to Google Developer’s to get your embed code. The simplest part about this is that if you are logged in to Google or Gmail, it will automatically find your profile or your Google Page and place it on the right like so:
As you can see, Google has found me and is showing my G+ profile already. Simple. So the way I embedded the hovercard from above was to simply scroll down on that same page as in the screenshot below: (Remember, I’m on the same page, I just simply scrolled down. The embed code is actually under the profile card.)
Simple, right? Sure. Ok, so you want to feature someone like I did in my post about the men to follow on G+? Still easy, and the same exact way as far as copying the code, but some people get confused as how to find someone else’s profile as well, but watch what happens when you click the drop down box:
Once you have the option to click “Other”, you will be prompted to put someone else’s G+ profile URL in the box. When you do that, the person that you are wanting to feature will show up and you simply grab that embed code the same way as above.
This is my friend Steven Hughes’ G+ profile card. As seen above I simply put his G+ profile URL in the box. Please note that his whole profile URL is as follows: https://plus.google.com/100443910872964342022/posts?utm_source=chrome_ntp_icon&utm_medium=chrome_app&utm_campaign=chrome“ You only need to place the code this far: https://plus.google.com/100443910872964342022, you don’t need the whole code to make it work.
So That’s How To Embed a Google Plus Profile Cards In Posts
See? It’s not that hard, that’s how you embed a Google Plus profile and now you are able to feature people, or put your G+ card on your own posts or sidebar so you can make it easier for people to follow you! Hope this helps some!
