I was supposed to be writing up a review of a blogger that I recommended for my readers to go and read. Seems as though I got so busy that I forgot about July’s recommendation! The last recommendation that I made was in June of a content marketing strategist that was well-recieved within my reader base, if you missed that one, you can check it out here.
Let me tell you why I’m doing this
One guy asked me why I did it in the first place. He wondered why I was sending my readership elsewhere instead of keeping them right here on this blog. If you know me, then you will know that I don’t care where you go to get your information, as long as you get it!
But I want to introduce you guys to a social media enthusiast that I met a while back. I actually never met her officially until about six months ago, but I always saw her stuff online. I am now proud to call her my friend!
Her name is Jenn Herman, and her site is called Jenn’s Trends. That’s kind of nifty isn’t it? Anyway, as I started reading her anonymously I began to realize that she will become the kind of marketer that Amy Porterfield is one day. Her ideals and first hand accounts of social marketing are very good. Good enough to keep me reading all this while.
However, Jenn has a very funny story that reminds me of a lot of myself and what I would do if I were in that scenario. Every year SocialMediaExaminer.com holds a social media marketing conference usually in San Deigo (across the country from me, but right in Jenn’s backyard). The funny story, and I should actually interview her about this, was that she wasn’t able to go into the actual conference and get her badge and be a legitimate “member” of the conference. Why, I don’t know. Perhaps it was too expensive, maybe it was spur of the moment for her, whatever the case was, she wasn’t supposed to be in there.
But she didn’t let that stop her! Long story short found her crashing the party and meeting a lot of cool people, including the Amy Porterfield I compared her to not so long ago.
And Jenn, I know you’re reading this, could you enlighten us as to the whole event in the comment section? I know my readers would get a kick at your first hand account of this story.
That’s when I began to take her seriously
Even though I chuckled when she posted the story along with some pics on Facebook, I started to realize that Jenn Herman was the real deal. She is persistent, she goes for what she wants and get’s it! Jenn Herman is a social media strategist and Instagram advocate. She provides tips, resources, and training to small and mid-sized businesses looking to structure their social media strategies.

Here are some of my favorite posts that Jenn has written:
- Who Do You Trust In Social Media?
- Are You Posting What Your Audience Wants?
- How & When To Use Hashtags on Instagram
- Don’t Be A Downer on Your Social Media Pages
There’s a ton more that you can use to build your social media following to marketing your fan pages! I recommend that you check out her site and sign up to receive notifications when she posts something new on her blog because you don’t want to miss it!
I recommend Jenn Herman for all of your social marketing reading. She may not be rich, and she may not be famous, but trust me, one day you will see her at that same conference again, not as a crasher, but as a speaker…hopefully she’ll remember the story and tell the congregation.
In my opinion, she has broken out and created her own social media niche in this crowded atmosphere and her content is the stuff you should be reading to get a leg up on your competition.
