When I think of success online I think of someone who has worked long hours every day for literally years. When I think of someone who has became an authority on a certain subject of relevance, I think about how that person got to where they are at now verses where they started and what it took for them to get there, ie. long hard hours of loneliness and working every day to get there.
When I think of success, I don’t think of success in an overnight manner.
Why? Because it just isn’t like that.
My Plight With Empower Network
Now I’m sure by now you’ve heard and seen these jokers that run the Empower Network. One of the owner’s, David Woods, admits to being homeless. He tells his story of how he became rich overnight. Here’s my only problem with this guy.
He’s a liar.
Now don’t get me wrong, a person CAN become rich from online pursuits when they don’t have much. But when you’re homeless it’s a little harder for you than for the rest of the people in the country. How do I know this? Someone very near to my family is a homeless person. This person barely survives every day just to get something to eat, much less get access to the internet and a computer to start a business.
Per his story, David tells us that he did this all by himself. Now there are some missing facts here somewhere. I am not saying that a person cannot be homeless at one time and then become rich, I am merely stating that there is help given at some point or another. As I researched this post, I wanted to share with you some famous people who were homeless at one time:
- Halle Berry- This famous actress stayed in a homeless shelter in her early 20′s. The main reason for this was because her mother decided not to give her any money because of her “crazy” dream to become an actress. Later, she realized her full potential and began to help her.
- Jim Carrey- One lived in a Volkswagon van and a tent in the front yard of his sisters house. Same story, he dreamed of becoming an actor. It’s not that he didn’t have the potential or help to go out and get a real job, he merely decided that this was what he wanted to pursue. Eventually, he got his break and the rest is history.
- Daniel Craig- Otherwise known as “Bond, James Bond” used to sleep on park benches in London. He opted to stay away from help because of ridicule. He did have job opportunities in acting, but no place to stay. He also got the break he deserved.
The common denominator with all of these people was that they either had an “in” with the business, or they had outside help from family members. Sure, they were homeless by definition, but all had a choice to go back to where they came from. There was help there that they chose to ignore.
Most homeless people don’t have this opportunity. In fact the possibilities of a homeless person making enough money to buy a house has less than a 3% chance of happening.
Let’s Venture On…
I’m sure you have seen the Empower Network’s sales page’s. They paint a picture in your head of success and all the money that you could be making if you would only join. Most of these sales pages also have pictures or video’s of their houses, cars, or them walking along a beach somewhere. They paint a picture of success overnight.
Now I won’t fault their sales technique, it’s working for them. People are joining the Empower Network every day. They write on what you don’t have to do. They show you their success and everything that they didn’t do to get there and it toys with our emotions.
Can success really happen this fast? You ask yourself. Because you want it so bad, you start believing that it can, and the further you read into the sales pitch, the more “hooked” you become.
Can It Work?
Anything can make you rich online if you work your butt off at it. Period. You can choose to make money all kinds of different ways online. You can choose to blog, to become an affiliate marketer, social marketer, etc. But once you run across the Empower Network’s sales page you have to decide for yourself whether or not you’re going to become a part of the “scam” or be fully honest with the people that come across your site.
While most people in the Empower Network don’t tell you the full scoop, and they don’t tell you that in order to make the most money out of this program that you won’t become successful, there is one person that I am intrigued with in this program. As I came across his site I was shocked to see that he had written this:
I mean, any Empower Network affiliate is obviously gonna do whatever they can to get you to buy products from them. Some, unfortunately, cross the line and use marketing that’s extremely misleading.
Could there be an honest person in the Empower Network? From reading his Empower Network page I get the feeling that this guy isn’t really pulling any punches. Yes, his sales page is still kind of the same generic one, he’s got the video’s of the beach and what-not, but his honesty of admitting that people in the EN are going to do whatever they can do to get you to buy was what really got me to pay attention to him.
Overall Reputation of Empower Network
In my opinion, the overall reputation of the Empower Network is tarnished. They tell you about all the bells and whistles that come with building an empire. Most of the sales pages that I have been to tell you how you can do that this month too. That’s garbage.
Let me give you a revelation.
The Empower Network or any other online venture isn’t going to work for you right out of the gate. What they so conveniently forget to tell you is that you’ve got to be on the first page of Google for “money” keyword searches. Still thinking about it? Well, maybe you’re saying that social media is the place to promote. Still no good. Why? Because you must have an engaging social media following before you can really start to drive traffic.
It usually takes a month to get ranked on the first page of Google for a low competition, not to mention the high competition “money” keywords that you will need to rank for in this industry. After that, think about how saturated the MLM market is in the first place.
In social media, while its a great platform to set up your soap box, it takes a lot of time and hard work to build a strong following that is going to take your word on anything. And even if it took you three months to build up 3,000 followers, are you really going to blow that by sharing an Empower Network affiliate link with them?
You can make money online. You can make great money online. My final thought is don’t let sites like Empower Network play with your emotions. Whether you know it or not, they are capitalizing on your greed to make money easily. When you see a site that spouts nothing but success be very skeptical of it. I don’t know any marketer that hasn’t fell flat on their face at least one good time while building an online business.
To put it plain and simple, hard work is required. If you don’t have any age to your site or have a large social media following, then you’re more than likely not going to make any money this month. Truth be told, you’re probably not going to make any money next month either. Can the Empower Network actually work? Sure it can. Anything can work if you apply yourself. But don’t be pulled in by their lies of how they will make you rich by the end of the week.
